Life updates and such

Well as is the case in “real life” I’ve been doing the 9-5 now for the past month and there is little time for much else. Friday night bought some release as a rather large group of Sun employees headed out to the local rock club for a night of fun filled antics. There was beer. It was messy.

I’ve just signed up for linkedIn because apparently it’s going to be the next big thing to waste your time with, so you can view my public profile here. I was surprised at how many people I know of use it, not necessarily in my age range, but it has large following of 30-somethings all looking for career advancement no doubt. I figure if I start now and get my name into certain circles I’ll stand a better chance of getting a (good) job when graduation day finally arrives. Or maybe I won’t, but it’s worth a shot. That’s probably why I signed up: I’m curious at how effective it is.

I spent the whole weekend after Friday recovering and tinkering with this and that but I wasn’t good for much else. I tried to get bluetooth working on my laptop but I can’t detect any devices and no devices can see me, which is a little strange because I’m sure I followed the gentoo-wiki to the letter.

After listening in on some interesting lunchtime conversation I think my project for this evening is going to be to try and setup bonded ethernet adaptors. The idea of falling back onto wireless automatically when I want to go walkies with my laptop is too cool.

All is moving along nicely. I’ve finished my first month of work, only 11 more to go.
